New Commission Report on American Education (or lack thereof…)

OK — one last post before I zip out the door. I just read a Time Magazine article (December 10th, 2006) describing a new report by the New Commission on the Skills of the American Workforce, a bipartisan commission charged with examining the American education system and suggesting ways to create an educated workforce that can compete in a globalized world. Their 28 page executive summary is available here. The full report is being released as a book entitled Tough Choices or Tough Times.  I think this may be the most important educational report I read this year.
