New Book At Waldo: The Entrepreneurial Engineer

We have a new book at Waldo called the Entrepreneurial Engineer: Personal, Interpersonal, and Organizational Skills for Engineers in World of Opportunity by David E. Goldberg (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). It is published by Wiley-Interscience, 2006. Call number TA 190 .G68 2006. It will be temporarily shelved in our new books area, in the Lower Level (near your’s truly’s Science Reference area). You can read the table of contents here.

If you are an undergraduate looking to understand the engineering profession and the skills you need to be a successful engineer, then this is a great book for you. The author discusses the need for engineers to think like entrepreneurs, always looking for innovative ideas and ways to transform products and manufacturing processes. He discusses good writing skills, good presentation skills, ethics, time-management, teamwork, summing all this up in his “Ten Competencies for the Entrepreneurial Engineer”.

Hope you’ll take a look at it when you have a moment.
